GISBORNE MAORI CULTURE:
Gisborne is the home of Kapa Haka, and has the top performers in the land. Waihirere maori cultural group and Whangara-mai-tawhiti, two of New Zealands top performers.
(Whangara is where the movie "Whale Rider" was filmed, and local performers took part in the filming.)
Gisborne's SUPER 12:
Super 12 Kapa Haka is also held here every christmas. 12 Teams, 12 Minutes to perform.....some of the top New Zealand Kapa Haka teams, strut their stuff on the day....a great family day out, and very entertaining.
